We used an RV site in the campground. The campground is beautiful with mature trees. Some of the sites are really tight for parking an RV. The golf course is adjacent to the campground and is fun to play. The only negative is moderate highway noise.
Historical mansion that inspired Stephen Collins Foster to write the song, My Old Kentucky Home. The grounds are free to wander. Plenty of parking and a gift shop in the visitors center. A garden is in back.
I love this place! The historic home is simply beautiful both inside and out. The guides are dressed in period costumes and are very knowledgeable about the history of the place. I highly recommend this place on any visit to Bardstown.
What an iconic piece of history representing Kentucky during some of the most fascinating time periods in American history. For history fanatics such as myself, the tour through the mansion will give you chills. So much rich history and amazing stories in each room. The tour guides are scripted to say what they need to say, but I found that if you can think of some random questions about small details in a room, they'll often have an incredible story to explain whatever it is you're asking. Great times here.
Amazing tour, and amazing prices. Only $12 per adult and less for kids and seniors. Great gift shop, and beautiful grounds. Even available for events and business meetings. Will return with our children someday.
